So I could really use some help choosing which lead I should use on my opinion piece. Feel free to give feedback or new ideas for an even better start:
Descriptive/contrast
Picture yourself walking home on a hot Texas day, sweat causing your black sweater to stick to your back. Now picture yourself walking down the same street wearing a white sundress, the sun bouncing off your back and a breeze flowing across your dress. Not being able to wear white after labor day is a terrible rule that should not be taken literally
Contrast and Compare:
Looking back to America in the 1930’s you would see people in dark conservative clothes keeping to them selves. Looking at America today you see a collage of vibrant, light colors.
Not wearing white after labor day is a old-fashioned rule that is very much outdated.
Narrative/anecdote:
Coco Chanel: french designer, modernist, and a trend setter, who's fashions lasts centuries. In 1969, Coco broke the ‘no white after labor day’ rule with one of her signature white suits. Since then, the rule has not been treated the same.
Thank You!!

I think that the first one, the descriptive one, grabs my attention the most, not only because describing the scene gives an interesting start to the article, but becasue it relates to texas.

Narative/Anecdote, it gives more controversy to the issue.-Haley
ReplyDeleteI liked either your first one or your last one. I think that they were both really good and that you could use either one of them to get the readers attention!
ReplyDeleteI really like all of them actually, but the first one was a bit cheesy, but that might just be me. I liked the Coco Chanel one the best because she as a person is amazing, but also because it's the most different and interesting one. It sticks out, but catches your attention.

I liked the first one the best, because it gave the reader an understanding of what it is like to wear different colors if they are from Texas or not. I think it got your point across and really drew the reader in.

The first one is the best. It might need to be a little longer though, just saying...

I liked the third one best because brings up a major change in fashion
